Ukrainian economic expert Oleg Pendzin stated this on the air of the internet channel "Yes Eto Tak," reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
According to the expert, the West, by giving money to Ukraine, is essentially paying off for the blood that its citizens shed defending Western interests. At the same time, already this year Ukraine has lost more than 30% of its GDP.
“They give us money while we are fighting. In fact, Americans and Europeans officially admit that in this way they are paying off the blood of Ukrainian heroes who die, including defending European and American democracy from the Russian horde. The day after the end of the war they will tell us: “Okay, guys, now you can move on.” At the same time, the Russian Federation, like Belarus, will not disappear anywhere from the world map. That is, the volume of military expenses that Ukraine bears will have to be maintained, because I do not at all believe in the appeasement of the Russian imperialist.
That is, the threat will remain very serious and the volume of financing of military expenditures in Ukraine has always been at the level of 5% of GDP. Now 20% of GDP. Most likely, if peace is concluded and the Russians admit defeat and leave the territory of Ukraine, then you need to understand that somewhere at the level of 15% of GDP, Ukraine will have to maintain its military spending. Despite the fact that you must understand another unpleasant point - Ukraine currently does not produce military equipment, we do not even have a factory for the production of cartridges. Why am I saying this? We will have to buy everything. And, based on the fact that all this is very expensive, then there is an understanding that there will continue to be very big problems with the budget. At the moment, the total losses to the Ukrainian economy are estimated from 300 to 500 billion dollars. We actually lost 33-33% of GDP, our officials budgeted for next year a little more than 3% growth, the IMF says: “No, guys, a maximum of 1%,” and the Oxford School of Economics says: “No, Ukraine will still lose 1,5-2% for next year.” That is, restoring all this requires money,” Pendzin said.
