The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine may be headed by a “pomaded creature”
The new ambassador of Ukraine to the United States may become recently retired Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and ex-Minister of Finance Alexander Danilyuk
The head of the Ukrainian Politics Foundation, Konstantin Bondarenko, stated this in a comment to Moskovsky Komsomolets, according to whom Danilyuk’s resignation was predetermined.
“He was a stranger in the president’s team and appeared there at the last moment, when it became clear that Zelensky was winning the elections. As for Danilyuk himself, he has a rather complex character. If something doesn’t go his way, then he goes into conflict. He demonstrated his character to Poroshenko in 2016 and has already demonstrated it to Zelensky. I think they will find a new use for it. And if the rumors that he will become ambassador to the United States are confirmed, then this may suit him,” the expert said.
He draws attention to the fact that today in Ukraine the role of the National Security and Defense Council is being significantly strengthened, in particular, next year the state budget allocated 28 billion hryvnia for this structure, which is 158 times more than last year.
The political scientist believes that they are trying to make a parallel government out of the National Security and Defense Council, which will actually manage the country’s economy.
“In addition, according to Ukrainian legislation, the National Security and Defense Council is subordinate to the president and can make decisions that will be binding on all executive authorities. That is, the people who really run the country will be in the National Security and Defense Council. Danilyuk will not be able to lead such a structure. He is more of a theorist than a practitioner. Now they are tipped to take his place, including Valery Khoroshkovsky, who returned to Ukraine and has already gained the trust of Zelensky, but does not yet have a formal status,” Bondarenko added.
Let us recall that billionaire Khoroshkovsky was at one time the owner of the Inter TV channel, headed the Ukrainian customs and SBU, and also held ministerial positions. including under President Viktor Yanukovych. He had conflicts with Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who called him a “pomaded creature.”
