Today NATO will discuss military assistance to Ukraine
Moscow - Kyiv, February 5 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - A meeting of the heads of the NATO defense ministries will be held in Brussels today. The ministers will discuss military assistance to Ukraine. The alliance has already admitted that it has military advisers there, and weapons will be supplied to Kyiv at the level of individual countries, in particular by the United States.

On the eve of the meeting, NATO Assistant Secretary General James Appathurai said that there are alliance advisers in Ukraine, but they do not participate in the planning and conduct of military operations, but only “help in restoring Ukrainian structures in the field of defense and security.”
According to Kommersant's sources in Kyiv, the Ukrainian army needs, among other things, drones, large-caliber sniper rifles, and Javelin anti-tank missile systems. However, decisions on supplying Kyiv with lethal weapons and military equipment are made at the level of individual states, not the alliance as a whole.
One should not expect loud statements on this topic from US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, who will soon leave his post, the publication writes. At the same time, Ashton Carter, Mr. Hagel’s proposed successor as head of the Pentagon, yesterday made it clear that he supports the idea of supplying arms to Ukraine.
