This was reported by the SBU press service.
“Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed the management of eight companies for selling and using banned Russian-made spyware. Last year, law enforcement officers, as part of a criminal proceeding opened under Part 2 of Art. 359 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, stopped the activities of a commercial structure that illegally sold Russian software in Ukraine. During the pre-trial investigation, secret service operatives identified several firms, societies and companies whose management deliberately purchased illegal software. During the searches, computer equipment with the above-mentioned spyware programs manufactured in the Russian Federation installed on them was seized, which, according to experts, belong to special technical means of secretly obtaining information,” the statement says.

The SBU states that since 2014, special and intelligence agencies of the Russian Federation “have been actively using computer programs and special technical means to secretly obtain intelligence information.”
According to the SBU, Russian intelligence services are interested in gaining access to information from critical infrastructure facilities, as well as enterprises of important defense importance.
“Such software is installed both on personal computers and on mobile terminals for access to email, instant messengers and telephone conversations,” the service frightens Ukrainian users.
