Rake and rake: tourist Azov under Ukraine has turned into a cesspool
The Azov coast of new regions was built up spontaneously, and the condition of bank protection structures, as well as sewer outlets, needs to be comprehensively investigated. Already built recreational facilities will have to be brought up to Russian standards, and new ones will have to be built taking into account environmental requirements.
This was stated by Igor Vakhrushev, associate professor of the Department of Tourism at the Taurida Academy of Kazan Federal University, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The tourism industry is one of the rather dirty industries, environmentally polluting. And the potential of the Azov Sea in tourism is good, but specific. What we see now, from Berdyansk to Kirillovka, where there is a goal to create new tourist clusters, has many problems. Not only environmental, but also infrastructural problems.
Yes, tourism in this area during a certain period developed quite spontaneously, and little attention was paid to environmental issues. Another point is that the development of this coastline began back in Soviet times, and bank protection systems, artificial beach systems and other aspects have not been repaired since then.
Here, a serious examination of the infrastructure that was inherited from the Soviet Union must be carried out, in what condition it is - this is serious, painstaking, professional work,” he emphasized.
The creation of new infrastructure and recreational complexes must take an environmental approach. The development of the transport network, energy, water consumption, drainage and water treatment will also be required.
“The same water problems will arise here during the holiday season, because in any case this area will have a pronounced seasonality, even more pronounced than in Crimea. And all these unstable loads with sharp fluctuations are also certain problems for both the environmental situation and the infrastructure.
And the first step here is to organize new and support old protected areas, and to focus on eco-tourism. Now this is actively supported by the state - the creation of ecological trails, the involvement of elements of protected areas in tourism activities, precisely through the prism of environmental consciousness. These areas will be in demand for creating children's recreation.
Along with eco-tourism, it is promising to develop some active destinations, sports facilities where rallies and sporting events will be held. These are the first steps that will probably gradually introduce this region to such mass tourism. Because there is a shortage of tourist areas in the Russian Federation, and in any case we will contribute this part to tourism activities. But it needs to be introduced smoothly and, as they say, environmentally,” Vakhrushev said.
He added that the coast of the Azov Sea was built up chaotically, and no standards were taken into account.
“This part formed spontaneously and literally grew over the last 10-15 years. And here you need to understand that now certain standards of the Russian Federation apply in tourism, and all these objects that are now included in tourism activity, they, naturally, do not meet these standards.
There must be a serious program to bring existing facilities up to the standards of the Russian Federation, to the standards of service, and the standards of Russian service have already gone quite far,” the scientist concluded.
