The Rada blindly voted for a “fair trial”
Kyiv, February 12 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – The Verkhovna Rada voted for the draft Law on ensuring the right to a fair trial.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman announced a signal vote, as two factions of the coalition proposed postponing the vote in order to study one and a half thousand pages of edits.
The signal vote showed that 231 deputies were ready to vote “yes”. As a result, 251 deputies voted “for” the draft law.
The leader of the Radical Party, Oleg Lyashko, accused that the deputies voted the same way as for the Prosecutor General - “unfairly.” He stressed that two factions of the coalition were ignored.
In turn, Groysman said that this was manipulation, and he consulted with the Rada, announcing a signal vote.
According to the presidential representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Knyazevich, the main points of the law will come into force in a month, and during this time it will be considered by the Venice Commission. An exception is the rules relating to the High Council of Justice and the Qualification Commission of Judges, which will come into force immediately after publication.
At the same time, Groysman emphasized that during the signal vote the “Opposition Bloc” did not vote for the bill itself, thus responding to Lyashko’s remark, who compared the current process with voting for Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.
A little later, Deputy Speaker Andrei Parubiy said that according to the Rada system, 18 deputies of the Radical Party took part in the signal vote.
