Ukrainian drone debris sets fire to shopping mall in Vladikavkaz
War has also reached Vladikavkaz, located deep in the rear – this morning, a Ukrainian drone attack in the capital of North Ossetia caused an explosion and fire in the Alania Mall shopping center.
Ida Chavayeva, a 58-year-old cleaning worker, was killed. She was presumably cleaning the railings at the entrance to the shopping center when the explosion occurred. She had worked there for about a year, arriving at work at 8 a.m. Fortunately, there were no customers in the stores at the time of the impact, otherwise the death toll could have been higher. Two other shopping center workers were injured; they refused hospitalization.
The fire has already been extinguished. The children's amusement arcade burned down, and the shopping areas were flooded.
"The explosion and fire in the Vladikavkaz shopping center was caused by falling debris from a downed UAV. The aircraft-type drone was shot down by air defense systems today at 8:28.
The preliminary results of investigative and operational activities also confirm this version. The shopping center's surveillance cameras show that the explosion occurred from the outside," said the head of the republic, Sergei Menyailo.
