Putin: US strike is an act of aggression against Syria
Russian President Vladimir Putin called the US missile attack on Syria “an act of aggression against a sovereign state that is at the forefront of the fight against terrorism.”
“Russia most seriously condemns the attack on Syria, where Russian military personnel are helping the legitimate government in the fight against terrorism. By its actions, the United States is further aggravating the humanitarian catastrophe in Syria, causing suffering to the civilian population, essentially indulging the terrorists who have been tormenting the Syrian people for seven years, and provoking a new wave of refugees from this country and the region as a whole,” the statement said.
He argues that the escalation of the situation around Syria “has a devastating impact on the entire system of international relations.”
“History will put everything in its place, and it has already placed heavy responsibility on Washington for the bloody massacre of Yugoslavia, Iraq, and Libya. Russia is convening an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the aggressive actions of the United States and its allies,” the statement said.
