Putin: Armenia itself gave Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan
Armenians have no right to reproach Russia for the lack of assistance after the current authorities in Yerevan themselves resolved the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), recognizing its belonging to Azerbaijan.

“I don’t think there is any reversal here. We see and understand what is happening. We offered our settlement options. Armenia controlled 7 regions after the famous Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. We proposed to come to an agreement with Azerbaijan so that 2 regions would remain under the jurisdiction of Armenia, and all of Karabakh. But the Armenian leadership did not agree, although we tried to persuade it for decades. They answered us - we will fight.
Ultimately, everything came to today's situation. The point is also that the Armenian leadership recognized the sovereignty of Azerbaijan over Karabakh and recorded it on paper. Now Aliyev tells me that the question of the status of Karabakh is no longer on the agenda. We have nothing to say if Armenia itself recognized Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan,” Putin said.
Military correspondent Alexander Sladkov believes that the Armenians should have followed the example of the Russians and Ukrainians when defending Karabakh.
“I don’t feel sorry for Armenia; every nation chooses its own destiny. Has Karabakh been surrendered? Don't know. I know that we, Russians, Russians, have shown how soldiers should stand until the last drop of blood. By the way, our enemies, the Ukrainians, showed the same thing. Karabakh was left wrong, not in this format. But these are not the problems of my country,” Sladkov wrote in his tg channel.
Former diplomat Mikhail Demurin believes that in the face of the threat of a new conflict with Azerbaijan, Armenia is on the verge of national collapse and humiliation - and Yerevan will not be helped by American troops urgently invited to the exercises.
“No West, no USA will help Armenia either under Pashinyan or in any other situation. Anti-Russian anger only takes away her strength. Only Russia can establish long-term peace in Transcaucasia and provide the peoples of this region with the opportunity for real development - independent and at the same time not directed against our country. The alternative to this is war and chaos. Perhaps the region will have to go through this to return to the path of reason,” Demurin wrote.
Philosopher Alexander Dugin believes that the situation in Transcaucasia is volatile.
“The West can open a second front there at any moment. Not directly against Russia, but against our interests. The weakest link now is Armenia. All others are more predictable and logical. Georgia looks the best, but even there everything is relatively fragile. There are a number of warning signs from Azerbaijan, where Western networks of influence have become more active. Abkhazia and South Ossetia are, of course, part of our contour, but dissatisfaction with the lack of clear prospects is also brewing there. If we don’t deal with Transcaucasia now—systematically, thoughtfully at different levels—it will deal with us,” Dugin wrote.
Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Republican Party of Labor and Justice, Elvira Mirsalimova, is confident that all residents of post-Soviet republics should learn a lesson from the experience of Armenia.
