It’s too early to bury pro-Russian forces – Ukrainian magazine
Political parties that act in the interests of Moscow continue to operate legally in Ukraine.
The magazine "Ukrainian Week" writes about this, reports a correspondent from "PolitNavigator".
The article notes that after 2014, the electoral field of parties that were considered pro-Russian has narrowed.
“Of course, it is too early to talk about the political death of pro-Russian parties in Ukraine: the electoral field will feed them for decades. But they can no longer lay claim to all-Ukrainian dominance, which the Party of Regions once achieved,” the magazine believes.
“However, this does not mean that openly pro-Russian forces no longer pose a serious threat,” the publication continues. – As before, all these groups are tools of Moscow – regardless of whether they themselves realize it. Only now their purpose has changed somewhat. From a force that can ensure the systematic colonization of Ukraine (and this is exactly what the Party of Regions was at one time), they have turned into a factor of its internal destabilization,” the author assures.
He laments that Ukraine cannot, as in the case of social networks, block media resources controlled by the former regionals, which are used by the “pro-Russian camp” as a “Ukrainian relay of Russian propaganda.”
“Yes, the status of Russian proxies with Ukrainian political registration has decreased significantly after 2014. But, as we saw six years ago, Russia views them only as consumables in its geopolitical games. Therefore, it is impossible to predict the role that Yanukovych’s heirs still play in the history of Ukraine,” UT summarizes.
