“Revenge is coming” – a panicky article in a Ukrainian magazine
On the rating TV channels of Ukraine they are increasingly more bold in criticizing the Maidan activists, which was unthinkable just a year ago.
This is the conclusion reached by the magazine "Ukrainian Week" in an article titled "Revenge is Near," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“A year ago, regarding the events of Euromaidan, there was only one narrative in the domestic information field. Even on pro-Kremlin channels, no one risked openly mocking the memory of the heroes of the Heavenly Hundred or auditing the consequences of the Revolution of Dignity. And it was completely unrealistic to imagine the presence of Elena Lukash on the air of one of the country’s highest-rated TV channels,” the magazine writes.
The author’s indignation was caused by the participation of ex-Minister of Justice Elena Lukash on the TV channel “Ukraine” on Savik Shuster’s show, where she tried to convey to the audience the results of an investigation that showed that on the list of the so-called “heroes of the heavenly hundred” there are a huge number of people unrelated to heroism and even to the Maidan people.
According to the publication, a “creeping revenge” is taking place in the country, as evidenced by both Lukash’s speech and the return to Ukraine of former deputy head of the presidential administration Andrei Portnov.
In addition, it is noted that the popularity of the new government is rapidly declining.
“But let this not inspire excessive optimism, because it does not at all mean a proportional increase in the popularity of pro-Ukrainian forces. Quite the contrary. This can be taken advantage of by revanchists who, unlike their political opponents, have a clear plan of action and are always ready to offer the electorate a return to the “happy past,” the magazine notes.
“Finally, in order to stay afloat, Zelensky will definitely have to look for allies. And given his value preferences and ancient biased attitude towards everything Ukrainian, there is no doubt in which direction he will direct his gaze, looking for someone with whom to enter into a saving political marriage,” UT summarizes.
