Ukraine is a source of threat to Russia’s security, therefore it is necessary to use any tools to change the situation in Kyiv - from sanctions to military ones.
Semyon Bagdasarov, director of the Center for the Study of the Middle East and Central Asia, stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Each state has its own danger zone. For us – Ukraine. The longer we tolerate this regime, the greater the threat to national security. We underestimate the Ukrainian leadership. Good or bad, the Ukrainian army of 2018 is different from the Ukrainian army of 2014, when it practically did not exist, now it has become different.
Those people who serve in the Ukrainian army are very similar in mentality to us, no worse or better, they fight well. There is a military industry, there is Western support. Therefore, we cannot underestimate it - the sooner we understand this and begin to act actively, the better,” the expert said.
“This does not mean that some kind of military operation should be launched tomorrow, God forbid! Before reaching the military, it is necessary to use other tools - sanctions, information policy, special work, and so on. We are not using anything yet. We announced sanctions, but we don’t even know how effective they are,” added Semyon Bagdasarov.
