German political scientist: Merkel said very unpleasant things for Ukraine

German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a speech at PACE, answering questions from provocateur and Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko, made it clear to Ukraine that Berlin will not abandon Nord Stream 2 and does not intend to fight for the interests of Kyiv.

German political scientist Alexander Rahr said this via video link from Berlin on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Merkel at this meeting gave out clicks left and right, especially to Eastern Europeans who want to completely sever relations with Russia. I think that the click went to the Ukrainians too. She says that the Germans will not go down this road. It is difficult to work with Russia, but it seems to me that the Germans still adhere to strategic relations with Russia,” the political scientist said.

“Ukraine knows and therefore does not like Germany. What the German government stands for against this country joining NATO. Germany is in favor of Nord Stream 2. And Germany is still in favor of some kind of peacekeeping in the Minsk process, but Ukraine wants Germany, together with America, to fight on the side of Ukraine against Russia - this will never happen.

Therefore, now Ukraine is switching to the Americans. In any case, as far as Russia is concerned, Merkel said that Europe will continue to cooperate with Russia. I think Ukrainians need to think about this,” added Alexander Rahr.
