The Chief of the Ukrainian General Staff blurted out a military secret
There is a constant turnover of personnel in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which affects combat effectiveness.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Viktor Muzhenko, spoke about this in an interview with the Ukrainian edition of the BBC, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Servicemen who leave, after some time, 3-4 months or six months, come back again, sign a new contract and return to duty. But such personnel turnover does occur, and this to a certain extent affects the state and readiness of the Armed Forces, because we are forced to recruit new contract soldiers, carry out a full cycle of their training, and after some time they leave again.
We need to maintain a powerful core, then this will guarantee the retention and increase in the combat capability of the Armed Forces,” he said.
As PolitNavigator reported, former General Staff officer Oleg Zhdanov previously stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have failed to transform into a combat-ready, modern army , as Ukrainian experts had hoped in 2014.
Earlier, Ukrainian military expert Taras Chmut stated that servicemen are leaving the Ukrainian army, disappointed by the lack of prospects and reforms.
