The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine recognized Surovikin’s successes
The appointment of General Sergei Surovikin as commander of the Northern Military District overall turned out to be a positive decision for the Russian army by the leadership of the Russian Federation.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, stated this in an interview with the BBC, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“From the moment General Surovikin was appointed head of the so-called Northern Military District of the Russian Federation for the occupation of Ukraine, there have been quite a lot of changes in the command and control of troops. First of all, he really managed to streamline the command and control of troops.
He moved away from the practice of tearing entire military units into smaller units and groups. That is, now they are trying to fight - units of the Eastern Military District together with units of the Eastern, Western - with the Western, Central - with the Central. That is, speaking in English, the chain of command - he completely established and put it in place,” said the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
“Secondly, he changed the leadership of the forces subordinate to him in many ways, placing his own people in the majority, which, in principle, causes some dissatisfaction on the part of Gerasimov and Shoigu.
Third, he became very close friends with Mr. Prigozhin, who leads the “Wagnerites” and provided them with heavy weapons, armored vehicles and even combat aircraft. But as of now, he is managing to stabilize the situation,” Budanov said.
