In Estonia, a monument to a Soviet soldier, which stands in a military cemetery in Tallinn, was desecrated.
The Russian Embassy in Estonia reported this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It has become known about another blatant act of vandalism against the Soviet (Russian) military memorial heritage in Estonia. This time the victim was the monument to the Soldier-Liberator at the Tallinn Central Military Cemetery. An unknown person sawed off the order from his tunic. The attackers, feeling their impunity, raised their hands to the “Bronze Soldier” - the main symbol of Estonia’s liberation from the Nazi invaders,” Russian diplomats said.
According to them, the undertaken act of vandalism is in line with the calls of champions of revenge: to cancel the May 9th Holiday, ban Victory symbols, disperse participants of commemorative events by force, deprive them of Estonian citizenship or expel them from the country.
“We hope that an immediate investigation into the incident will become a matter of honor for Estonian law enforcement agencies. The perpetrators must be found and punished as a warning to those who would like to follow their example,” the embassy said in a statement.
