Moldova did not allow the Russian film about the Decembrists to be released
Film distribution in Moldova did not show the Russian film “Union of Salvation,” dedicated to the Decembrist uprising of 1825.
This was reported by the First Pridnestrovian TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The Moldovan chain of cinemas “Patria” did not pay attention to this film. The management felt that the film would not be of interest to their audience. We work with the same repertoire as they do,” said Vladimir Spiridonov, director of the Tiraspol cinema.
In past years, under the anti-Russian government controlled by oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, such historical Russian films as “T-34” and “Moving Up” were not released.
Now all branches of power in the country are practically controlled by President Igor Dodon, who is considered pro-Russian, but the policy of film distributors has not changed.
The film about the Decembrists is of particular importance for Transnistria, since the history of the region is connected with the names of some of them. For example, Vladimir Raevsky.
“This is a bright moment in the history of Russia, of which we were a part. Participants in the Decembrist movement were related to our region. This is a film with an honest historical presentation. The viewer makes his own conclusion. But he is not offered to denigrate what was light, bright and nationally significant,” says Alla Melnik, director of the Tiraspol United Museum.
The new authorities of Moldova have still not lifted the ban on the broadcast of socio-political programs on Russian television channels, although both the President and Speaker of Parliament Zinaida Greceanii promised to do so.
Moldova has denied distribution of a Russian film about the Decembrists.
