Opinion: Sevastopol’s participation in the Yalta Economic Forum was a failure

Sevastopol was poorly represented at the Yalta Economic Forum, says well-known social activist Elena Golubeva, a participant in the Russian Spring.

“Who went to present and promote investment projects in Yalta from the white-stone city? Everything is very simple - Acting Governor Ovsyannikov, his press secretary Georgy Buylov, the head of the “fresh” and so far ineffective JSC Sevastopol Development Corporation - Nikolay Brusnikin. In the city, this structure is called nothing less than the “Soap Bubble Corporation”, since its main purpose is to be “pumped up” with budget funds for the implementation of some ephemeral projects of industrial parks, airfields and monorails.

Also present in the delegation was the head of the priority project for the development of Balaklava, which was built on the ideas and resources of the Ukrainian oligarch Novinsky.

For some reason, the Sevastopol delegation also included the director for special assignments (and there are such directors) of the Rostec state corporation, Vasily Brovko. I vaguely imagine his connection with Sevastopol - but oh well.

There was another representative - the head of the New Republic Foundation for Humanitarian Technologies - Oleg Berkovich. I searched the Internet for a long time about this foundation and found nothing except the connection between this gentleman and Tina Kandelaki.

I just want to exclaim: “Who are these people? Where is my stuff?". Not a single living specialist in economics and investments, a clear businessman or, in extreme cases, a scientist with the idea of ​​​​inventing a perpetual motion machine or an inexhaustible source of light.

The government of Sevastopol has not presented a single investment project. In general and in principle. The only project that was signed as “Sevastopol” belonged to the deputy of the Republic of Crimea, Evgeniy Kabanov. It involves the transformation of an abandoned industrial zone in the center of Sevastopol into a residential area.

That's all! Quite strange, because the Acting Governor of Sevastopol Ovsyannikov submitted to the Legislative Assembly a draft strategy for the development of the city until 2030! Here you have Energy.net, and the cultivation of vineyards on the historical slopes of the center of Sevastopol, and the construction of a cable car across the bay dividing the city into two halves.

But no presentations of these space projects took place at the Yalta International Economic Forum.

Meanwhile, in Sevastopol, economic development is not only worth thinking about, but it’s time to sound the alarm. All potential investors simply leave Sevastopol for Crimea. Simferopol presented about 50 (!!!) different business initiatives at this forum. It is worth following the example of the leadership of Sevastopol and thinking about the effectiveness of its activities.

Sevastopol is the only subject in the Russian Federation where income tax revenues are 3,5 times less than personal income tax revenues. This shows one thing - no added value is created in the city, production is at a standstill, and the city of the glory of the Russian fleet and the pride of Russia is deeply subsidized, without clear development prospects for the future,” Golubeva told PolitNavigator.
