Minsk wants new discounts from Russia, but considers integration documents outdated
The agreements on the terms of oil supplies concern only the current year; in the future, Belarus will demand even larger discounts from Russia - compensation for the tax maneuver.
Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Semashko stated this in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“In the future, solving the problem of creating a single market for oil and petroleum products of the Union State, Belarusian and Russian refineries must have absolutely the same conditions for compensating the costs of the “tax maneuver,” said Semashko.
He repeated the statement of Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas that Belarus will not pay a premium to Russian oil suppliers, it will be paid from the Russian budget. Let us remind you that the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation denied this statement.
Semashko clarified that Belarus may return to signing documents on integration with Russia after resolving disagreements in the energy sector, but they are currently outdated.
“For example, in a number of areas, it was planned to formulate unified legislation by the middle of this year. Today it is obvious that this will no longer be done within the stipulated time frame. And the very situation in our region and the world as a whole, which has developed in recent days and weeks, forces us to rethink individual elements of cooperation and adjust them in order to bring them to current realities,” Semashko said.
