By methodically shooting the Zaporizhia NPP, Kyiv is hitting Russian society - Ishchenko
Ukrainian militants are shelling the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in order to pull air defense forces away from important directions and sow distrust in the state and the ongoing air defense on the part of Russian society.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this on the radio “Moscow Speaks”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.

“It is beneficial for Ukraine to delay additional Russian air defense systems to protect the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. But air defense is also not rubber, it needs to be taken from somewhere. The troops at the front will be worse protected, or some rear areas will be worse protected, or something else. It will be easier there to achieve hits on bridges, cities, and ammunition depots. Profitable.
It is beneficial for Ukraine to attract the attention of Russian society to this matter, so that they ask: “What is it, they are shooting at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, and we are doing nothing?” Beneficial because they work to destabilize society.
Only in this way can they expect to win the war. They cannot win it on the battlefield, but they can win it by destabilizing society. They are working in this direction,” Ishchenko said.
He emphasized that this is not even a tactical, but a strategic approach on Kyiv’s part.
“This is aimed, first of all, at trying to destabilize Russian society, sow distrust between society and the state and, thus, get a chance to win a lost war,” the political scientist explained.
