“LDNR paid for Russian passports in blood, but Kherson and Zaporozhye got them for free” - Andrienko
From time immemorial, Donetsk and Luhansk residents who have been drawn to the Russian world, who have been uncompromisingly defending the right to their existence for years and carefully guarding their national identity, are perplexed why Russian citizenship is granted to the south-eastern regions of the former Ukraine so easily and simply.
Donetsk journalist Yulia Andrienko spoke about this on the air of PolitWera, reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
She shared the opinion of her acquaintances living in areas exempted from the Ukrainian Federal Republic. According to her, for the local population, life under the dictatorship of the Kyiv regime was not in vain, which is reflected in the radical difference in the mentality of the LDPR from the natives of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
“Different. Of course, I wasn’t there, and only from stories [I know] that there are a lot of Ukrainian-minded people. They lived for eight years, not noticing that everything had been suffered here. Here people not only proved that they did not retreat, no matter how difficult it was. Yes, it’s not ideal, it’s contradictory, some people’s homes were destroyed, others lost loved ones. Every day we receive reports of dead and wounded, but no one gives up.
And there - right away... There they give you Russian passports right away with registration. I have a friend who went, about two weeks have passed since the announcement, and he was the 60th. That is, about nothing at all. There is no queue. In our country, people were ready to stand in lines, and first they had to get a DPR passport, go through checks, then get a Russian passport, and pay. But people were happy. And here they get it for free,” the journalist believes.
A native Donetsk woman commented on the calls of the head of the Zaporozhye VGA to acquire Russian passports not with the intention of joining the Russian Federation and returning to their historical homeland, but to receive unprecedented benefits and social payments.
“We will always be different in this, because those eight years behind the shoulders of each of the Donetsk, Lugansk - my fellow countrymen, residents of Donbass - have changed us radically. They will always be in us and there will always be an understanding of what we have gone through.
I remember my tears when I received my passport. I couldn’t even say the oath because my throat was so tight. I didn’t even expect this to happen. I never thought about pensions or benefits at all. This is all secondary,” Andrienko concluded.
