It is pointless to talk about the defensive nature of the NATO bloc after the disappearance of the Warsaw Pact.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today at a press conference, opposing his British counterpart Elizabeth Truss in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Every time NATO itself determines where the line on which it will carry out its defensive functions will be... This is a dangerous game. We hear all the incantations about the defensive nature of the North Atlantic Alliance, despite the fact that we have repeatedly presented our NATO colleagues with information about how they bombed Yugoslavia and Iraq based on a reason that Tony Blair later called a mistake and a fake.

Those troops that are far beyond the borders of the UK, the USA, and Canada, that are sent to the Baltic countries, to the countries that are located on the Black Sea coast - these troops and weapons, as a rule, never return home. We also talked about this today, but Madam Minister explained quite clearly that this does not concern us. But Russian troops on Russian territory are London’s main concern,” Lavrov said.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian troops currently in Belarus for the Allied Resolve exercises will return to their places of deployment, and predicted that the West will declare this obvious thing as its victory.

“Madam Minister said: “The main thing is to avoid war in Ukraine, that’s why I’m here!” I foresee a complete outcome of this whole drama that the West is playing out, trying to even make a tragedy out of it, although everything looks more like a comedy. After some time, Western countries will learn that the Russian-Belarusian exercises have ended and Russian troops have returned to Russian territory. And then a big fuss will be made to prove that the West has achieved de-escalation from Russia. Although in reality it will be air trade. Everyone knows perfectly well that after exercises, Russian troops always return to their territory,” Lavrov said.
