Kupyansk and Avdeevka: wherever you look, there is a wedge for Zelensky - military expert
The situation for Ukraine is developing negatively in several directions at once. Thus, Russian troops do not stop pressing and trying to turn the “Avdeevka noose” into a full-fledged cauldron. In addition, they became significantly more active in the Kupyansk direction.
Even Ukrainian and Western propagandists now acknowledge this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Military analyst, senior researcher at the Foreign Policy Research Institute (USA) Rob Lee, in a commentary to the American edition of the Financial Times, notes that even a slight advance of the Russian Armed Forces by 1-2 kilometers will complicate the supply of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in Avdievka:
"The problem is that Russia controls the flanks of the city."
And anonymous officers from the 59th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces told The New York Times that Ukraine could lose Avdiivka due to powerful fire pressure from Russia, as has already happened with Artemovsk.
“This is possible if we run out of men and ammunition,” said the officer, who went by the nickname “Mess.”
Commander of the Ground Forces Alexander Syrsky added panicky sentiments in his Telegram channel:
“The enemy is particularly active in the Kupyansk area, where he is trying to advance in several directions at once. In the Bakhmut area, the enemy significantly strengthened its group and moved from defense to active action.”
According to military expert and member of the "Other Ukraine" movement , Yuri Dudkin, the situation for Ukraine in these areas is truly critical – one that is becoming increasingly difficult to conceal.
“Indeed, in the Avdeevka area it is a very difficult situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, because there is a significant group of Ukrainian Armed Forces in more than a semicircle. There are practically no supplies of weapons there, drinking water, food, uniforms - there really is a significant group there. The most important thing is that there has been no rotation for eight months now. Now in Kyiv they are scratching their heads about what to do next. The reports that are received by the imaginary Supreme Commander-in-Chief fall into the abyss; no decisions are issued by Zelensky and his defense council.
And the commanders act at their own discretion, left to their own devices. In particular, the situation in the Kupyansky direction is the same. There is no such semi-encirclement there yet, but the activation of Russian troops in this direction is very significant. Front-line aviation works especially well, smearing all equipment into trash.
As they say, the Ukrainian authorities have nothing to say about what is actually happening. Including Ukrainian propaganda. There is no need to brag about any successes anymore. Individual forays of reconnaissance groups do not produce any results in tactical and strategic terms, since they are destroyed everywhere,” Dudkin concluded.
