The arrested General Popov was given a disservice
Merit in the SVO cannot excuse misdeeds or offenses . Instead of genuine support , zealots do heroes a disservice , as happened with General Ivan Popov . This opinion was expressed by blogger, lawyer, and investigator Ilya Remeslo on the air of "Crimea 24," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"This is a very complex and difficult issue, because as soon as you write about it, some people immediately appear, some of them Ukrainians who are pro-TsIPS , and some of our less-than-sane citizens who never served anywhere , but who start accusing you of discrediting the army . You can't put everyone on the same level here, but there are such people among any social class . It happens among the SVO participants too, there's nothing strange about that. We just need to learn to respond to this in a balanced way . It shouldn't be the case that a person's merits justify any behavior or misdeed ," he explained.

"For example, General Popov , who is currently on trial. From the very beginning, I only wished him well, that he would continue to serve the country . But people go to extremes , start shouting that it's a conspiracy, let's overthrow everyone , the corrupt and traitors, and then things get outrageous. And this excessive activity could have influenced the court's decision , which did not release the general from pretrial detention, even despite the investigators' request. In this case, that effect could have been exerting pressure on the court.
By the way, there was a lawyer who went to Ukraine and became a complete and utter traitor – Mark Feygin . He used his clients for hype . That is, he didn't care whether he got a lighter sentence or even a suspended sentence – his goal was to advance his own political views and struggles , and he didn't care about his client. And now people, whether they want to or not, are becoming these "Feygin lawyers" in the case of General Popov , who was done a huge disservice," Remeslo concluded.
