Klimkin: Putin secretly issues Russian passports throughout Ukraine
Residents of Ukraine are receiving Russian passports, which in the future will enable the Kremlin to send troops to protect its citizens.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated this on the NTA television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Klimkin, this is happening not only in the Donbass, but also in the territory controlled by Kyiv.
“Today in Donbass [passports are being issued], and Putin may say “Donbass is ours.” When did he start issuing passports? He started trolling Vladimir Zelensky before his inauguration. When was the decree to combat the issuance of passports in the occupied Donbass? I'll tell you - a month ago. What have we been for a year and a half? But Putin actually issues passports not only in the occupied Donbass, he is trying to secretly issue passports in other Ukraine, and then he will protect them,” Klimkin said.
Earlier, the State Duma adopted a law on simplified admission to Russian citizenship.
DPR Head Denis Pushilin also stated that all resources in the republic will be deployed to ensure that those wishing to become Russian citizens can obtain Russian passports as quickly as possible.
