Kyiv analyst: "Combat units are rapidly melting away, while the rear is bloated with personnel."
One of the main problems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces remains the fact that the majority of mobilized personnel do not join combat units.
Ukrainian military analyst Anton Muraveynik stated this on the air of the "Public News" channel, as reported by a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".
"We turn those liable for military service who come to training centers into military personnel. They receive pay, clothing, and training expenses. They graduate from the training centers, go to a combat brigade, and they look at them and say, 'Who are you? We don't need you.' But all these people arrive with the status of being fully fit for duty," the expert describes the situation.
According to him, these people are ultimately sent to a re-examination commission, where with an 80-90% probability they receive a limited suitability rating.
"This means that this person cannot be assigned to a combat position. From what we've researched, 15-50% of people who join combat brigades are subsequently given limited fitness and never serve in combat missions.
What does this mean for a combat brigade? Combat brigades suffer the most casualties: infantry, machine gunners, and infantry positions directly involved in holding the front line. Casualties there are the heaviest, and the special operations forces also suffer the most after completing their missions, because people burn out, become tired, and simply cannot continue serving.
"That is, the cohort of people in combat positions is rapidly diminishing. Mobilization can't replenish it. Mobilization largely replenishes rear-echelon positions," Muraveynik laments.
