In Germany, refugees from Ukraine came out on Friday to protest against the decision of the Die Welt holding company to hire Marina Ovsyannikova, the former editor of Channel One, who left Russia after she was fined for causing a scandal on air by coming out with a poster against special operations of the Russian Armed Forces.
The protesters chanted: “Propaganda kills,” “There are no former propagandists,” and “Down with Ovsyannikov.”
The head of the international department of Die Welt, Klaus Geigeth, came out to the Ukrainians, reports a correspondent of PolitNavigator.
“I am not ready to turn my back on this woman and do what you ask. She is on the right side of history,” he said, causing outrage among Ukrainians.
The behavior of Ukrainians outraged the scandalous TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak, who is based in Israel.
“Well, what can I say, dear Ukrainians in Germany, there is even less chance that anyone will repeat Ovsyannikova’s act. Well done. Such a reaction will not accustom people to the habit of “repenting until victory”, silently enduring the next ten years of poking and spitting in order to beg for forgiveness. Such a reaction will make you angry and push you to the position of “fuck it all...”. And the next person will leave silently, if he leaves at all,” Sobchak wrote in her Telegram channel.
She was answered by the Kiev political scientist Yuri Romanenko, who serves the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov (a criminal case has long been opened against him in the Russian Federation for calls to kill Russian reporters working in the Donbass).
“Ksenia Sobchak, in her cart, is indignant that the Ukrainians in Berlin are putting pressure on Ovsyannikov, who worked as a propagandist for 10 years, and now has decided to “repent.” Sobchak thinks that we are so bad that we don’t see how, with the help of these crocodile tears, the KGB is trying to translate the discourse of Russian atrocities in the spirit of “Putin separately, the Russian people separately,” so that there is more room for maneuver...

Russian journalist Marina Akhmedova, who worked in Donbass, believes that the skirmish between Russian liberals and Ukrainian Bandera supporters is very indicative.
“This is a natural result. Firstly, no one anywhere loves traitors; their fate is always pitiful and unenviable. Secondly, I always thought so - those Russians who come out with such posters and calls are simply very far from the Ukrainian topic, they have never personally come into contact with the aggressive Ukrainian minority, which in recent years has had a tendency to become the majority,” – states Akhmedova.
Svidomo refugees are not the first to be outraged by Ovsyannikova’s employment. At first, the editor was attacked by her compatriots and colleagues from the liberal media - foreign agents who fled abroad. They found themselves there without work, of no use to anyone, and were jealous of the successful brawler from the First. Their protest was expressed in posts on social networks.
At Die Welt, Ovsyannikova will write for the newspaper about events in Russia and Ukraine, as well as contribute to the channel's news programs. Her first column was titled "Russians Are Afraid."
On March 15, Moscow's Ostankino District Court fined Ovsyannikova 30 rubles for holding a public event without filing the required notification. The editor pleaded not guilty . The foreign headquarters of criminal blogger Alexei Navalny stated that it would pay any fine imposed on Ovsyannikova.
On March 18, the editor submitted her resignation from Channel One due to her disagreement with the channel’s editorial policy. She gave interviews to several foreign media, in one of which she said that she was “hiding” with friends because her family (mother, husband and two children) did not accept her action.
Channel One news chief Kirill Kleimenov said that before staging the protest, Ovsyannikova held talks with the British embassy.
