The main square of Simferopol will be rebuilt
In Simferopol, controversy has flared up over a project to reconstruct the main square of the Crimean capital, named after Lenin.
“They will completely replace the paving slabs, install street furniture, install new modern lighting, and also plant green spaces,” the press service of the city administration quotes the words of the head of the municipal services department, Evgeniy Malyarovov.

It is also reported that the government of St. Petersburg will help Simferopol with modern lighting design for the square.
Options proposed by designers have already been published on the Internet. They suggest preserving the monument to the leader of the world proletariat, although previously the senator from Crimea Sergei Tsekov allowed the monument to be moved to another location.
Commentators raised doubts about the children's playground and skateboard area presented in the project. On the one hand, there is a busy highway nearby. On the other hand, there is no greenery on the square; in summer it turns into a “hot frying pan”, and walking here with children can be uncomfortable.
