Kiev, February 26 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) - The restrictive measures introduced by the NBU on February 25, namely the partial cessation of dollar sales for three days, have only one goal - to hold out until March 11, when the IMF can allocate a new tranche of the loan. However, before this, a number of laws still need to be adopted.

Yesterday, the foreign exchange market stabilized somewhat after the protective measures of the NBU. These measures at a government meeting were sharply criticized by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who went straight from the meeting to President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to demand a report from NBU head Valery Gontarev.

The price of the dollar fell slightly after the meeting and agreement on measures to stabilize the foreign exchange market, but this is only a temporary phenomenon. According to the newspaper "NEWS“, the main task of these measures is only to hold out until March 11, when, according to the government’s calculations, the long-awaited tranche of the loan from the IMF may arrive. “As a source in the Cabinet of Ministers told us,” the publication writes, “the NBU’s task is to hold out until March 11, when the IMF must decide on the allocation of the first tranche. “The decision will definitely be positive,” the source said. — We need to adopt changes to the budget and all other related laws on March 3. The government has already met with all coalition factions except the Poroshenko Bloc. Everyone is ready to vote.”

At the same time, despite the government’s hopes, things are not going so smoothly within the coalition itself. “Not all of us will vote for the budget,” says one of the deputies in an interview with the publication. “Many people generally doubt the adequacy of the team in power. The oligarchs are also extremely dissatisfied with what is happening. If they pull the strings together, they may even dismiss the government. Enough voices. But I'm not sure that they will decide to do this. The vote on March 3 will show everything.”
