Germany and Russia began to increase trade turnover, despite sanctions
Despite general tensions between Germany and Russia, as well as the coronavirus pandemic, trade between the countries increased by 11% last year.
This was stated by Matthias Schepp, Chairman of the Board of the Russian-German Chamber of Commerce and Head of the German Economic Representative Office in the Russian Federation, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Shepp emphasized that, according to a survey among chamber members, the majority of them spoke positively about the business climate in Russia.
“Everyone knows that we are the largest foreign business association in Russia, we have more than a thousand chamber members. Despite the unpleasant general situation, we grew by 11% last year.
Only 6% (of respondents) believe that the position and situation of enterprises in Russia is bad. 94% are satisfied. 16% say that the situation is very good, 51% consider it good and 27% satisfactory. Only 5% say they will be forced to lay off people in the coming months, and 51% say they will hire additional employees. Nobody hires more employees unless they believe the business will be fine,” Shepp said.
