Proposals to add several more countries to the Normandy format, which has not been able to meet for more than four years, look more like attempts to finally bury this negotiating platform.
Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I’m listening to this heated discussion about Norman and non-Norman formats and these proposals from a young talent [from Zelensky’s team]: “Here, let’s add Britain and the USA.” Question: to what? In the election programs of different candidates out of 39 there was both China and the EU as a separate entity - there was a lot, but the question is: in order to do what? Nobody answers – neither Zelensky, nor his team, nor any of the presidential candidates,” the expert said.
“That is, the current Normandy format cannot meet for three years now; two or three more countries will be added, then it will be even more difficult to meet. And most importantly, what should they decide? But at the same time, note that the DPR and LPR are again not participating. The question then is: if we put the United States at the negotiating table, then why is Ukraine there?” – Kornilov asked rhetorically.
