Former head of administration Yushchenko called for a referendum on the separation of Donbass
“Western partners” do not have the right to tell Ukraine how to resolve the conflict in Donbass. The only way out is to hold a referendum on the fate of Donetsk and Lugansk.

“The only correct solution is a referendum. We should not be told not from Germany, not from France, not from Washington. They must respect the choice of the Ukrainian people. whatever it may be, it must be a choice made by each of us,” said Baloga.
Previously, Baloga’s assistant Alena Yakhno stated that Ukraine should abandon Donbass based on the results of the referendum, since the presence of a region with a pro-Russian population in the country slows down Ukraine’s movement towards Europe.
Yakhno in her blog quoted a corresponding statement from Kyiv City Council deputy Dmitry Gordon, emphasizing that he is one of the few Ukrainian politicians who openly expresses the idea of the need to get rid of Donbass.
“Donbass is a cancerous tumor, Donbass is weights on our legs, This is a population that is hostile to everything Ukrainian. This is Soviet and Asian. We need to leave Donbass and go to Europe. “Gordon is not afraid to call a spade a spade. He is a true patriot. I pray to God that Ukraine gets rid of these two regions... God forbid you compare Transcarpathia with Donbass. These are Europeans, not Soviets. Donbass is an anchor that will always keep us in Russia’s sphere of influence,” said Baloga’s assistant.
According to her, Ukraine's rejection of the Donbass is inevitable, just as in medicine, amputation of body parts is often inevitable.
“Do not crush, but amputate the rotten flesh, which can infect the entire body... Normalization means death and decay of the entire organism. This means being in Russia's sphere of influence. We don’t need this,” Yakhno clarified.
“Odessa and Kharkov proved that they are Ukraine. Putin was able to establish himself only where he was supported... I don’t believe in “One Country” with the “people of Donbass”... If people consider themselves Ukrainians, they will not give themselves up anywhere. Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Zaporozhye proved that they are Ukraine... and no one shouted: “Putin come!” , no one brought honey with explosives to our soldiers,” the deputy’s assistant continued her thought.
“These are the most ordinary people, but not with Ukrainian self-identification, but with Russian one. Their capital is Moscow, and their president is Putin. They despise the state of Ukraine. We are just different from these people. We have different self-identifications. Their capital is Moscow, ours is Kyiv. And no one considers them idiots,” is how Yakhno characterizes the residents of Donbass.
“The worst thing is that the best sons of Ukraine, the flower of the nation, are dying for the rabble that hates everything Ukrainian,” Baloga’s assistant immediately added.
