Donbass: Large plant returns to full capacity
In the first quarter of next year, the Yenakievo Metallurgical Plant plans to return to 100% capacity utilization.
The day before, the company put into operation blast furnace No. 3 and began steel production in the converter shop.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, who visited the plant, called the launch of production a landmark event and emphasized that this will have a positive impact on the development of economies in both the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.
“By launching this enterprise, we are also loading the coke-chemical sector, not only in the DPR, but also in the LPR. This is about a single customs space, about economic integration - the economy of the Republics, and therefore every citizen of the DPR and LPR, will benefit from this,” Pushilin emphasized.
The head of state added that the forecasts are quite optimistic - in particular, measures to launch and support related enterprises are being discussed with the LPR as early as the fourth quarter of this year.
“I would like to thank both the management of the enterprise and each employee who had to go through difficult times, preserve the enterprise, and make efforts to make it work,” said the head of the DPR.
In turn, the manager of the enterprise, Alexander Kovalenko, noted that the comprehensive launch of the plant has actually been completed.
“This was the final link. We can safely say that the Yenakievo Metallurgical Plant, a full metallurgical cycle plant, has begun to operate according to the normal schedule,” Kovalenko said.
He added that the company has prospects for export.
“In addition to loading the capacity of the Republic, we are ready to work with related partners from Silur; we have long had established relations with them. We are ready to produce products for both the domestic and foreign markets,” the manager said.
