For Russia, Zelensky will become a new version of Poroshenko – Babitsky
In his interview with RBC Ukraine, the leader of the election race, Vladimir Zelensky, clearly demonstrated that with his coming to power, Kyiv’s political line in the Russian direction as a whole will not change.
This opinion was expressed to a PolitNavigator correspondent by Russian journalist Andrei Babitsky.

“It was clear from the very beginning that Zelensky is just a new version of Petro Poroshenko, and he will act within the framework of the same agenda as the previous government, since this agenda is set not by Kiev, but by Washington, and the Americans will not allow changing the rules of the game to no one. Anyone who tries it will immediately lose their head, literally and figuratively.
As a matter of fact, Zelensky’s biography demonstrates that he always sided with the nationalist forces, when he rode around the front-line zone, met with ATO fighters, bowed to them for “protecting them from scum.” He resorts to such harsh rhetoric when it would be better for him to remain silent, because the Russian-speaking electorate of Ukraine considers him one of their own, and such statements can alienate a significant number of voters from him.
The fact is that the West expresses doubts that Zelensky will be committed to the foreign and domestic political course established for Ukraine, and therefore he has to publicly declare that he will act in exactly the same way, and maybe even more harshly, than his predecessor ", he noted.
At the same time, according to Babitsky, one should not expect any negotiations with the LDPR from the victory of Vladimir Zelensky.
“No changes can be expected. With this statement, he actually canceled Minsk, because Poroshenko, at least theoretically, allowed for the possibility of an amnesty after the border between Russia and Ukraine came under control. This one completely rejects the possibility of an amnesty and the establishment of a special status for Donbass. He believes that Donbass only needs to be informed about how wonderful Ukraine is, and this is the only way to return, which means that the war will continue.
Actually, Kolomoisky, who stands behind Zelensky, is unlikely to want to lose such a fabulously profitable asset as war,” Babitsky explained.
At the same time, he regarded as erroneous the position of some Russian media, which pay excessive attention to the presidential elections in Ukraine and are trying to present Zelensky as the best alternative to the current president.
“The expectations in Russia, which are now very popular, that Zelensky is the lesser evil, it seems to me, are completely unjustified. Firstly, they are watching the elections very closely. Secondly, a very complementary tone was taken in relation to Zelensky, which seems absolutely wrong to me. Zelensky, purely theoretically, could shift the situation somewhat, but he is exacerbating it,” Babitsky believes.
Let us recall that earlier Vladimir Zelensky in an interview with RBC Ukraine stated that he opposes the law on special status and against amnesty for civilian and military employees of the DPR and LPR.
“I believe that this is our big story and it will take us a long time to get out of this criminal situation. This is where, perhaps, information warfare will help us. “I really hope to return these people with information to the state that Ukraine needs them just as Ukraine needs them, and that they are the same Ukrainians,” he said.
Zelensky also announced the creation of a Russian-language media portal for “truthful coverage of events in Ukraine.” According to him, Donbass can be returned to the country only through an “information war” for the minds of the people living there.
