“Whose Crimea? Russian!" – a journalist expelled from the Russian Federation at trial in Lvov
The Galitsky District Court of Lvov decided to arrest for two months journalist Elena Boyko, who the day before was deported from the Russian Federation for violating migration laws, despite requests for political asylum as a person on the “Peacemaker” list.
“Elena Boyko did not object to the prosecution’s request to detain her for 2 months. She motivated this by the fact that in the pre-trial detention center there would be less threat to her life than in freedom in Lvov,” said political scientist Ruslan Ostashko, who is taking part in the defense of the journalist, referring to the lawyer.
The trial in Lviv began at 21:45 PM outside of working hours and attracted numerous representatives of the Ukrainian press, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We (the support group), journalists from the channels “1+1”, “Channel 5”, “TRK Lviv”, and “zik” were in the hall. They asked several questions to both the mother and the lawyer, most were normal, and only one upstart in a blue jacket and glasses began asking questions like “how do you feel about the authorities, Poroshenko, what does the Holodomor mean to you, how do you feel about Bandera, etc. ... And so everyone behaved with dignity. Also present in the hall were SBU officers and several men who convincingly asked us to delete the videos sent to you (they saw that we were filming), to which I replied that if the journalists now hand over the footage to you, then we will also delete ours... SBU “The people also behaved carefully with my mother, they even allowed me to hug her (which I am incredibly happy about), I managed to approach my mother on the street while the journalists were inside,” says Boyko’s daughter, who was present at the trial.
“Journalists in court asked Elena Boyko, “Whose Crimea?” She answered - Russian! – Ostashko also added, referring to the lawyer.
