The West is escalating tensions around Belarus on the eve of the anniversary of the Belomaidan protests. They are diligently promoting the cases of scandal-mongering runner Kristina Tymanovskaya and political émigré Vitaly Shishov, who died in Kyiv and had ties to Ukrainian territorial defense battalions . CNN released a fake report about a concentration camp near Minsk.
This seems paradoxical, given that the protest has been completely suppressed within the country.
Alexander Nosovich, editor-in-chief of the analytical portal RuBaltic.Ru, wrote about this on his Telegram channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"What's the reason for this incomprehensible escalation, given that Lukashenko has seemingly won decisively, and there's no point in further raising the Belarusian issue? My answer is that Lukashenko is currently getting rid of Western structures in Belarus . Key ones are on the way: the German party foundations, which recently became the subject of Belarusian TV coverage. This 'demolition of everything' is necessary so that dialogue with the West can then be returned to on fundamentally new terms. That's why they're not even firing Makei (the pro-Western foreign minister – ed. )," Nosovich wrote.
At the end of July, the Belarusian authorities liquidated 20 non-governmental organizations associated with Western funds. A systematic purge of opposition media is underway. Yesterday, the online sports resource “Tribuna” was declared extremist.
Russian political scientist Andrei Suzdaltsev, who sympathizes with the Belarusian opposition, believes that the liquidation of pro-Western NGOs will not significantly affect the Belarusian protest, which, in his opinion, will become radicalized.
“Experience has shown that in addition to peaceful protests, real political transformations and the struggle for power should be carried out by professionals, including not only political leaders, political strategists, political journalists, but also administrators, etc. “field commanders” working with their assets.
Unfortunately, in this regard, political non-state structures, which spent years on numerous seminars and trainings, turned out to be useless. People from these organizations in the Minsk Resistance, i.e. not in emigration, but directly on the “battlefield”, did not show themselves in any way,” Suzdaltsev wrote.
Thus, the West will not negotiate with Lukashenko due to the liquidation of its legal agents.
“Even Russia has not yet achieved an equal conversation with the West. And the West, in principle, is unable to communicate with a country whose history and geography is destined to be a “cordon sanitaire,” as with an equal,” writes Nosovich.
Belarusian journalist Vladimir Mamantov compares the persistent multi-vector nature of Belarus with betrayal.
“Multi-vectorism and neutrality, which are again being pushed into the draft constitution of Belarus, is a strange attempt to wave a hand from the Brest Fortress to the Germans. Like, maybe we can come to an agreement? We won't agree. Only the inevitable force of economic feasibility, such as SP-2. Only united power. Only a new nuclear power plant. Then Oginsky’s polonaise and Tchaikovsky’s First Concerto,” wrote Mamontov.
