Liza Bogutskaya, an activist of the Crimean Euromaidan who fled to Ukraine, speaking today at a rally near the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv, called the commodity blockade of Crimea in 2015 a “grand victory,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“This is the mechanism when people got involved in order to stop the supply of food to Crimea. Hundreds of thousands of people left Crimea because they did not agree with this occupation, and our oligarchs continued to feed the Russian military, Aksenov and Konstantinov, collaborators, those who shouted that they were ready to die in Russia. We came out and said: we have pride, we will not allow this to happen. If Russia said that Crimea is its territory, let it feed,” Bogutskaya said.

Let us recall that in reality, the commodity blockade had a negative impact primarily on the business of Ukrainian entrepreneurs who transported products there. They were replaced by suppliers from mainland Russia.

Bogutskaya also considers the blockade of Poroshenko’s representative in Kherson a victory.

“Few people know about another victory of ours. We carried out a blockade in Kherson of the presidential representative office in Crimea, which was not working. We stood there for a month and a half, and the president was forced to replace his representative,” Bogutskaya said.
