Activist of Another Russia lost the case against the Ministry of Internal Affairs. She is being sent to Ukraine
Today, the trial between Irina Vorontsova, a volunteer and activist for the unregistered "Other Russia" party, and the St. Petersburg Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Migration Issues concluded. The court sided with the officials who denied Vorontsova temporary asylum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was reported by the “Other Russia” public page on VKontakte.
It is also reported that during the court hearing, a representative of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “dramatically changed her opinion regarding the territorial affiliation of the LDPR.”
“The entire process, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stubbornly asserted that the unrecognized republics are part of Ukraine, and since Vorontsova freely visited them in 2015, then nothing threatens her in the rest of Ukraine. Finally realizing how stupid it looked, officials admitted the obvious,” the report says.
The Other Russia says that Irina Vorontsova will appeal the court decision to a higher authority. She intends to stay in Russia during the appeal and will seek from the FMS to extend her registration until the end of the process.
The Other Russia promised to continue to fight for the rights of its activist.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator reported on this case previously. Vorontsova was about to be deported for the first time, but State Duma deputy Sergei Shargunov intervened on her behalf.
