Following the recent expulsion from Russia of Lviv journalist Elena Boyko for violating migration rules, who was immediately arrested by the SBU for supporting the Russian Spring, another former resident of Ukraine, Elena Vorontsova, who took part in organizing humanitarian convoys to the warring Donbass, is facing deportation.

In December 2017, Irina’s residence permit in Russia was revoked. The claims against the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on migration issues in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region were rejected.
In September 2018, Irina filed a petition for temporary asylum in the Russian Federation. In December 2018, temporary asylum was denied.

Earlier, writer Zakhar Prilepin reported on his blog that Vorontsova is an activist of the radical organization “The Other Russia” of Eduard Limonov. Irina was deprived of her residence permit in Russia after being detained at a rally in honor of the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution.
