South Koreans Begin to See the US as Their Main Threat
Many Koreans are concerned that the United States could use their country as a springboard for war with China.
Retired US Army Colonel and former Chief of Staff to the US Secretary of State Lawrence Wilkerson stated this in an interview with American TV presenter and blogger Andrew Napolitano, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Our strategic target is China. And most Koreans don't like that. We want to use Korea as a springboard for a war with China. They don't like that at all.
Opinion polls show that 60% of Koreans under 40 believe the United States poses the greatest threat to their future.
They don't like the fact that we're on their peninsula primarily to fight China," Wilkerson said.
"The Koreans are very capable people who are interested in preserving their democracy and economy. And they are very interested in relations with the United States.
But when we put them at risk because of our geostrategic interests in the region, most Koreans become concerned. They are very concerned about their peninsula,” the colonel added.
