"Russia's Friend" Wagenknecht: "We are not Vladimir Putin's friends"
German opposition politician and leader of her eponymous party, Sahra Wagenknecht, is outraged at being called "Putin's friend."
She stated this at the presentation of her Union's election program in Berlin, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We are a party that fights for social justice and against the oligarchic capitalism that exists in Russia," Wagenknecht said.
She assured that she condemns Russia for the “war” in Ukraine, but is in favor of negotiations.
"We condemn the Ukrainian war. We have said this very clearly from the very first day. We condemn any politician who starts wars. We say that everything must be done to end wars, and this only works through diplomatic means. Even the war in Ukraine can only be ended through diplomatic means.
"They are talking about this more and more now. First we were discredited as Putin's friend, and then the negotiations became a de facto consensus," Wagenknecht insisted.
