Outraged citizens held a rally with slogans and banners, and also voted en masse at public hearings against the tariff increase.

“They are increasing it by 217 percent, it’s unbearable! We are waiting with fear for the new heating season,” the residents of Slavyansk are indignant.

“I used to pay 24 hryvnia for a three-room apartment, now I pay 125 hryvnia, and after the increase - about 300,” said a pensioner, a participant in the action.

After the rally, during public hearings in the City Council, residents voted against the new tariffs.

Formally, the opinion of townspeople is only a recommendation to officials, which is not binding. However, the city council promised to listen to the residents of Slavyansk. Officials promise to finally decide the fate of the tariffs next week.
