Residents of Ivano-Frankivsk could not refuse Russian goods: Ukrainian analogues are worse
Ivano-Frankovsk, September 19 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Ivano-Frankivsk residents approached the boycott of Russian goods announced in March thoroughly: products manufactured in Russia are bought 8-10 times less often than before.

Residents refuse Russian coffee, tea, chewing gum, chocolate bars and pet food.
There is less consumer resistance to Russian powders, cosmetics, and hygiene products. 50% of the supply of these goods on the Frankov market is Russian-made and it is not yet possible to replace them with corresponding Ukrainian analogues. And it is practically impossible to boycott cigarettes, the market of which in Ukraine is practically monopolized by Russians, writes the Blits-Info publication.
“But in general, the turnover of Russian products has really decreased significantly,” said Andrey Glinyanchuk, manager of the local Arsen shopping center. – According to my personal calculations, almost 8-10 times. If earlier the sale of Russian goods from our total trade turnover was approximately 5%, now this figure is no more than 0,5%.”
“The most problematic segment is household chemicals,” Glinyanchuk emphasized. – At least half of this range is produced in Russia. And there are very few full-fledged substitutes for this product.”
Ukrainian products in this group, unfortunately, can still compete with Russian ones only in price, but not in quality. However, boycotting such goods has its own nuances. For example, almost all household chemicals with a Russian barcode are brands of European giant companies, which at one time, conquering the CIS market, entered it through Russia. Accordingly, they tried to locate their production there.
“Although, in my opinion, if you analyze the situation more deeply, these companies simply produce their products in Russia, paying only taxes there. While the main income goes into the pockets of owners from the European Union,” explained Glinyanchuk.
As PolitNavigator reported, in Western Ukraine stores are required to label Russian goods and also place them separately. And in Lvov, in order not to give up chewing gum and chocolates, they propose to lure the production of foreign companies from Russia.
