Zelensky will make Avakov a servant of the “Servant of the People”
Being a fairly influential figure in the Ukrainian political arena, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, if Vladimir Zelensky wins the presidential election, will play an important role in future cabinet reshuffles.
Kiev political scientist Vladimir Fesenko stated this on the InterVizor YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that during this transition period, Arsen Borisovich will be one of the most visible and influential figures who will interact with the new president, if Zelensky becomes him, and will naturally remain in the government, and there are also connections with the parliament. But where it will be in the configuration of future parliamentary elections is also a mystery to me. I will not be surprised, I will say this, if in the end he ends up on the “Servant of the People” list,” he noted.
In response to the journalist’s comment about the possibility of Avakov also being a candidate for the post of prime minister under President Zelensky, the expert noted that in order to preserve the image of the Servant of the People party as a youth and new formation, a different figure is needed. In addition, one should not discount Yulia Tymoshenko, who will also be eager to get the coveted chair.
“One of the possible candidates. Although, again, Yulia (Tymoshenko - editor's note) will also apply for this role, and someone may be one of the technocrats whom we do not know now. Because, again, if Servant of the People maintains good ratings, then I think that they will not promote Avakov to prime minister, he may become some kind of “first deputy prime minister” or something like that, but some kind of then a young technocrat, in order to maintain the image of the party of the new generation, the party of “new and young,” Fesenko summed up.
