Traffic on the Crimean Bridge and through the Chongar checkpoint stops at every missile warning signal. In Sevastopol, the air raid alarm sounded twice today - early in the morning and around noon. The governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, reported on the work of air defense over the entire Crimea, and the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, reported on 7 missiles fired by Ukraine towards Crimea. Moreover, 2 of them fell in the area of the Arabat Spit without causing damage. Traffic on the Crimean Bridge and through new territories has already been resumed.

At the same time, one launch of Storm Shadow costs more than 1,5 million dollars, ATACMS - more than 2 million. Over the past three days, 15 missiles have been fired at Crimea, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not scramble planes just for the sake of firing. Zelensky clearly needs a bright episode to make headlines in the world media, especially after the Time article, which made him look blessed.

However, no matter what motives motivate Kiev, the fact remains that missile strikes do not bring results. Perhaps the reason for this was the departure of the MiG-31 with the Kinzhal complexes on board to patrol the neutral zone over the Black Sea. Western air spies, usually on duty near Crimea to direct attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, no longer feel so confident and run away every time they get on the MiG-31 radars. But in general, according to the director of the Institute of CIS Countries in Sevastopol, reserve captain XNUMXst rank Sergei Gorbachev, it’s not so much about the MiGs.

“I think that, first of all, we learned to fight. We have understood the technical characteristics of the combat use of enemy weapons, we have understood the techniques, the methods, we have already acquired significant combat experience and are improving the techniques of repelling such threats. This applies to both the organization and the human factor. Plus, it’s quite possible that we began to use new or previously unused combat weapons, and strengthened the air defense system,” Gorbachev noted.

“As for the intensive use of enemy forces, I think this is due to two factors. First, they have something to shoot with. And those quantitative indicators that we sometimes hear related to the number of delivered missiles that will be delivered are all in a “close to the text” format. In fact, it is difficult for us to guess the real number of combat weapons that Ukraine has. The same Ukrainian “Neptunes” are most likely produced somewhere in the Czech Republic or Poland,” the officer argues.

In his opinion, “the second point is related to the state of affairs of power.”

“This is due to the upcoming elections both in the USA and in Ukraine and in other countries. In order to prolong the political and physical life of Zeneskiy, because if he flies away from the political arena, he may simply disappear, the prolongation of Biden’s political life - all this depends on the success of the confrontation with Russia, especially against the backdrop of the Middle East crisis, and in general the collapse of the monopolar system of power.

Washington and Kyiv need to demonstrate at least something; they will try to inflate any action like a balloon - to the size of an airship,” the expert believes.

According to him, MiGs with “Daggers” do not influence the work of air defense, but keep the enemy in combat tension due to the possibility of striking decision-making centers, warehouses, and missile preparation sites. And for the most part this is a gesture towards the enemy, who is active in the Eastern Mediterranean.

As for the protection of Crimea in general, and Sevastopol in particular, according to the candidate of historical sciences, associate professor at SevSU Alexei Tikhonov, now it is an order of magnitude higher than during the Great Patriotic War.

“We actually, and I’m not afraid to say this, protect the sky more effectively than our ancestors. Our air defense is now more professional than it was in 1941-42, when this was precisely the problem of protecting the city. As soon as the Germans captured Crimea here, the planes immediately established complete control over the sky in Sevastopol - this is a fact, it must be recognized,” the scientist emphasized.

“Now we are actually demonstrating, contrary to the idea that it used to be oh-so-ho, but now it’s so-so, that in fact nothing is so-so. We have a very strong defense system, and the same applies to the civil defense system. Despite the fact that we joke and laugh about who goes to the shelter and who doesn’t, in our university both students and teachers, including the rector and all vice-rectors, all professors - everyone goes downstairs very quickly and in an organized manner and waits for the alarm to end.” ,” Tikhonov pointed out.

According to him, the machine works so efficiently that it contradicts all the traditional cliches that were really spread, including by the Nazis - the Russians don’t know how to organize anything, you just have to slam your foot there and it all falls apart.

“Nothing like that, as you can see, everything is very strong, and everything is very serious. Yes, there are some problems with the first strikes, but look how quickly we learned to defend our sky. In general, we can only rejoice at this, this is a reason for pride that we really know how to protect our city,” Tikhonov concluded.
