Zelensky faces the threat of social rebellion
Ukraine may declare a default, which is fraught with another coup d’etat for the country.
Andrey Zolotarev, director of the Third Sector analytical center, writes about this in an author’s column on the Kiev website “Glavred”.
According to him, a default in Ukraine could follow the Argentine scenario - with destroyed stores, anarchy and chaos on the streets, and as a result, “an ordinary Ukrainian will find himself at the bottom of the food chain.”
“At least 50% of Ukrainians have no “fat” for more than a month. This means that a default in Ukraine could end in food riots. Default means that the state is not able to pay its obligations, that is, we are talking not only about pensions for pensioners, but also about the salaries of police officers, firefighters, doctors - everyone who receives money from the budget,” the political scientist paints gloomy prospects.
According to him, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is trying to “avoid a catastrophic scenario for the economy, because it will inevitably lead to a social revolt and, as a consequence, a political revolution.”
