Zelensky condemned Odessa to a blackout when he joyfully cut off gas to Transnistria.
Odessa's electricity supply cannot be restored without the Moldovan State District Power Plant (GRES) in Transnistria, which is operating on a single unit because Russian gas supplies have been cut off due to Ukraine's refusal to transit it.
Energy expert Boris Martsinkevich stated this in an interview with Sputnik radio in Crimea, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The plan to supply Odessa with electricity was being developed at a time when no one paid any attention to the strange lines on the map demarcating the Soviet republics. The bulk of the electricity came from the Dniester State District Power Plant in the Moldavian SSR, that is, from Transnistria."
When shutting off Russian transit, no one in Kyiv considered what would happen to Odesa. For the second year running, the heating season in Transnistria has begun under emergency status. The power plant supplies only Transnistria itself. Accordingly, the situation around Odesa is completely clear," Martsinkevich said.
According to him, Odessa is currently supplied with electricity by one small thermal power plant with a capacity of 68 MW.
