"Where are we heading?!": Prosecutors are charging $5-$7 for each case – Ukrainian Interior Ministry Colonel
Ukrainian prosecutors systematically demand bribes of $5-$7 from the police for each criminal case.
ATO veteran and retired Interior Ministry colonel Alexander Panchenko stated this in an interview with Borislav Bereza, the former spokesman for the Right Sector, which is banned in Russia, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"They may change the heads of the Prosecutor General's Office, but the penny-pinchers at the bottom are still there. Let me give you an example: I worked in the gangster department. I developed people, there are criminal cases, evidence, materials.
I take it to the investigator and get it approved. Then we go to the prosecutor, who's overseeing this. And he says, "You owe me three thousand dollars if you want to form an organized crime group. If you don't bring the money, I won't sign off on the organized crime group."
"This was a systemic practice, but now the war is on, and it's gotten even worse. The guys I talk to say the price has risen to 5-7 dollars just to get the paperwork signed to move this project forward ," Panchenko complained.
"This is a terrible situation. Where are we even headed?!" the presenter exclaimed in horror.
"All the prosecutors who are leaving are millionaires. If you look at prosecutors in different cities, they're rich people with estates and nice cars. They all worked for themselves, and they retire at 26. This is the system that was and will be," the retired police officer concluded.
