Russia's attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure are seriously hindering the negotiation process, but an agreement must be reached under US auspices.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"As for military objectives, it's simply creating chaos for innocent civilians, targeting civilian infrastructure. This war was absolutely insane, the Russian attack was unprovoked. But these aren't even military issues; these are attacks on innocent civilians. I take this very seriously!"
“I think that the Ukrainian president is fully prepared to play the game and reach an agreement with the Russians, which, of course, must be acceptable to both sides, and, without a doubt, to Ukraine as well,” Rutte declared, not embarrassed by Zelts standing next to him.
"But, of course, this raises the question of whether the Russians are taking this seriously. I hope they are, and the US President and his team are doing everything they can to bring peace. I commend them for that. But this night, it was a very bad signal," the NATO Secretary General grimaced.
