Donetsk, November 14 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – The leader of the proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, reminded the deputies of the People’s Council of the DPR their place. “You should not think that you have risen high and become an unattainable elite. You are, first of all, servants of the people, and you must remember this. The well-being of the people depends on you,” he said during his farewell speech at the first meeting of parliament.

“Dear friends, comrades in arms, fellow countrymen! I want to tell you this. You are all here for one and only purpose. This goal is holy, many of you are fighting for this goal. Unfortunately, many of us are no longer here. This goal is to make every resident of Donbass, every resident of the Donetsk People's Republic the person who will proudly say: “I live in Donbass. My country is the Donetsk People's Republic." I want you to remember: this high post that the people entrusted to you does not mean that you have become those people who are unattainable.
I want to remind you that you are servants of the people. The prosperity of this country and its inhabitants: pensioners, military personnel, children, teachers, miners, doctors depends on your decisions, on your work.
The path these people will take will depend on your work, your conscious choice.
Friends, this path will not be easy. This path is thorny, difficult, and involves military action, and I want to ask you to take this election seriously. You are the people on whom the life of the entire country depends. I hope that together with you we will do what we started to fight for, for which we are fighting and for which we will one day win,” the head of the DPR emphasized.
As PolitNavigator reported, Andrei Purgin was elected speaker of the DPR parliament, and Denis Pushilin was elected his deputy.
